The Rt. Rev. Dr. Kay Ward

Posted by:

In 1998, she became the first woman to be elected bishop in the Moravian Church in America. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Kay Ward is a remarkable servant of Christ. She served on the staff at Moravian Seminary after serving several congregations with her husband, The Rev. Aden Ward. She’s the author of four books: Of Seasons & Sparrows, Heading Home, Hoping for Spring and her latest book, Park Benches, is just released this month. All are published by the Interprovincial Board of Communication. She obtained her doctorate degree from the Claremont School of Theology in California. She lives at the Moravian Retirement Community, Marquardt Village in Watertown, WI with her husband, Aden.

We honor Kay on this Earth Day weekend for paving the way for so many others. Today ~30% of Moravian active clergy in The Moravian Church in America are women.
