She has been the standard bearer for Moravian Music for 25 years and serves as director of the Moravian Music Foundation in Winston-Salem. You would be hard pressed to find a sheet of Moravian music or a recording without her name on it. She has been prolific in her preservation, translation, arrangement and publication of the rich musical legacy of Moravians. A native of Winston-Salem, NC and lifelong Moravian, The Rev. Dr. Nola Reed Knouse is an accomplished flutist, composer and arranger – as well as an ordained Moravian minister. She was recently chosen to serve on the Provincial Elders’ Conference (PEC) for the Southern Province, Moravian Church in America. She obtained her MA and Ph.D. in Music Theory at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She has a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem and a certificate in Theological Studies from Moravian Theological Seminary. We honor The Rev. Dr. Nola Reed Knouse for her enduring ministry through Moravian music on this Moravian Music weekend.
