Charles Selden (Sandy) Baldwin, III is Board Chair 2019. He is a life-long member of Home Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC, where he has served as Trustee and currently serves on the Finance Committee. Sandy was a member of the Resolution Committee 55 that reorganized the Moravian Church Southern Province structure. Sandy and his wife, Beth, founded the State Employee’s Credit Union (SECU) Family House and served as Joint Board Chairs from concept through its first year of operation. They also raised over $7 million in funding for its establishment. Sandy served in a number of management positions during his 33+ years at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co.
Sandy and Beth have two living children, Charles Selden Baldwin, IV and Mary Elizabeth Baldwin. Their son Branner Dixson Baldwin is with our Lord.
Cheryl Weber is Board Vice Chair 2019. She is a life-long Moravian from the Western District of our Northern Province. She is a member at West Side Moravian Church in Green Bay, WI. She has served her congregation in many capacities, including the Board of Trustees. Cheryl and her husband Michael own Weber Wealth Management, LLC, a registered investment advisory firm. She previously worked at General Motors Acceptance Corp. Cheryl is the chair of JOSHUA (Justice Organization Sharing Hope and United for Action) Mental Health Task Force. She has also served on the boards for Brown County Board of Health and The Gathering Place, a peer-run recovery support center and advocate for mental health.
Cheryl has five children and 11 grandchildren. She also enjoys gardening, reading, and golf.
Paula Hall comes to us from our Southern Province. She is a member of King Moravian Church, King, NC, where she has served as Director of Christian Education for the last 19 years. She has also served on various congregational boards and committees. Paula served on the Board of Cooperative Ministries 2010 – 2014 and was chair during 2014. In her community, Paula has provided leadership with the United Way of Stokes County and Girl Scouts. She was a volunteer at Stokes Family Violence Services, King Outreach Ministry, and PTO president at Mount Olive Elementary. She was employed as a Clinical Social Worker and Health Educator at Stokes Family Health Center and as Executive Director at Rose Tara Plantation.
Paula is a 1993 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she majored in biology and psychology. She lives with her husband and seven children on a farm in Stokes County with Opal the pig, four barn cats, and 200 chickens.
Keith Gohdes joins us from our Northern Province, Western District. He’s a life-long, fourth-generation Moravian from the congregation of Canaan Moravian Church in Davenport, North Dakota. He has served his congregation several terms as an Elder and has represented his congregation several times as Synod Delegate. He often fills in for the pastor when she is on vacation or at camp. Keith’s public service includes board experience in local government. He was School Board President and Township Chair. He was a high school economics teacher and coach for 40 years.
Keith raises cattle and serves as a crop adjuster. He’s married and has three grown daughters.
Larry Johnson joins us from our Northern Province. He has been a member of the congregation at Castleton Hill Moravian Church in Staten Island, New York for more than 40 years. Larry is President of the Moravian Cemetery of United Brethren Church (Castleton Hill). He has served as a member of both the Central Board of Trustees and Local Trustee Board at Castleton Hill Moravian Church during the last 35 years. Larry is a retired Director of Software Development from ADP/Broadridge Financial and Merrill Lynch.
Larry and his wife of 48 years have raised two daughters, both of whom are active in the Moravian Church. He enjoys golf, hockey, and all types of music.
Julie Guffey comes to us from the Southern Province congregation of Olivet Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. She has served her congregation as a Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, chair of the Missions Committee, Youth Leader, Children’s Church leader, and Nursery Worker. In her professional life, Julie is a Business Systems Consultant at Wells Fargo, where she has worked for 28 years. She coordinates two Meals on Wheels routes that are primarily filled by Wells Fargo volunteers and has personally delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years.
Julie has been married to her husband, Basil, for 26 years. They have two amazing daughters, Kayla (22) and Marissa (13).
